Career Background

A four-star recruit out of West Forsyth High School in Cumming, Delp was a top tight end prospect in Georgia and committed to UGA over offers from Alabama, Michigan, and others, contributing immediately in a stacked room. He served as a backup to Brock Bowers early on but steadily increased his role, showing blocking prowess and receiving upside. In 2025, as the primary tight end, he had a breakout year in Georgia’s run-heavy offense, earning All-SEC recognition and helping the Bulldogs to a playoff berth. He declared for the 2026 NFL Draft in January 2026 after four seasons in Athens.

Character and Leadership

Delp is consistently lauded by coaches and teammates for his toughness and team-first mentality, with Georgia head coach Kirby Smart calling him a “warrior” who leads through physical play and accountability in the tight end room. Tight ends coach Todd Hartley praised his quick learning and vocal presence, noting Delp’s role in mentoring younger players like Lawson Luckie. Teammates emphasize his work ethic and humility, especially in a program known for elite talent.

No arrests, legal issues, suspensions, or off-field red flags reported across ESPN, local Georgia media, police records, or draft sources. He is viewed as a positive locker-room presence and dedicated professional-in-the-making.

Injuries

Delp dealt with minor ankle and shoulder issues in 2024, limiting practice but not causing missed games. He was fully healthy in 2025, playing all contests without reported limitations. No surgeries or structural damage noted in his career. Scouts see him as durable for the position, with full medical clearance expected at the Combine.

Play Style

Delp is a traditional inline tight end with strong blocking fundamentals, using leverage and hand placement to seal edges in the run game while also showing soft hands and route savvy as a receiver. He’s effective in play-action and intermediate seams, with the body control to adjust to throws in traffic. Already a plus blocker with receiving upside, he fits power-run offenses that use TEs as multi-tools; comps include Jason Witten (blocking/reliability) with shades of Dawson Knox (receiving flash).

Strengths

1.  Run Blocking Power — Dominant at point of attack; sustains drives with leverage.

2.  Hands Reliability — Secure catcher; minimal drops in traffic.

3.  Route Savvy — Finds soft spots in zone; adjusts mid-route.

4.  Physical Toughness — Plays through contact; high-effort finisher.

5.  Red-Zone Presence — Body control scores in tight windows.

Weaknesses

1.  Athletic Limitations — Lacks elite burst; slower in open field.

2.  Separation vs Man — Struggles to shake athletic LBs.

3.  YAC Creation — Gains minimal extra after catch.

4.  Inline Versatility — Primarily blocker; limited as move TE.

5.  Speed Ceiling — Adequate but not mismatch threat.

Final Evaluation

Oscar Delp is a solid TE3 in the 2026 class and a Day 2 talent with blocking prowess. Cross-referencing PFF, PFN, ESPN, NFL.com, and The 33rd Team shows consensus on his run-game dominance and reliability as a foundational piece. While receiving production was modest in Georgia’s scheme, his efficiency (61.3% catch rate, 118.8 QB RTG) and blocking tape suggest immediate starter potential. In run-first NFL offenses that value complete TEs (think Witten/Knox hybrids), Delp projects as a dependable blocker who adds receiving value over time. He carries mid-second to third-round value and could rise with strong testing.
